Concert in New York
The New York Show was the fourth show on the Childstar tour. Grace’s friend and co-writer on “Baby Doll" and “What’s Left of Me” was one of the openers, and she joined Grace on stage for Baby Doll.
During the “soundchecK” for VIP guests before the show, a lucky fan, and aspiring singer Addi Grace, was invited on stage with Grace to join her in singing “What’s Left Of Me”, she posted a video of it on TikTok writing: ” this is truly my biggest dream come true. last night i got to sing “what’s left of me” with Grace VanderWaal my BIGGEST inspiration ever. I’m truly at a loss for words, and this was the best moment of my life. thank you so much grace. This song has got me through so much, and I love you so much. you are such a kind soul and so generous and gracious. I will cherish this moment forever and ever.”
The venue
The Racket is located right across from Chelsea Market in Manhattan, where Grace performed at the “YouTube Space” in August 2019. It previously housed the Highline Ballroom. Bowery Presents co-founder John Moore spoke to Gothamist about the space ahead of Saturday’s opening, saying that Racket would still feel a lot like Highline Ballroom. “We’ve always liked the room,” he told Gothamist. “Great sound and great sightlines are what’s most important to us at Bowery. And the bones of Highline have always been really good. But we also wanted it to have a new identity.” To that effect, the backstage areas got an upgrade, as did the venue’s sound and HVAC system, and they removed the tables, couches, and lounge areas where Highline used to serve food.
