Performance at FFC Megalopolis Screening

Performance Details

Grace performed at Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis screening and Q&A in Port Chester, New York. Grace posted a clip of her singing a new song on stage, but we do not know if it was at the soundcheck (without audience) or at the event itself. Grace apparently also joined Coppola on stage for what looks like an interview of sorts. (Instragram post from Joe levin)

Grace posted a number of photos of her in her dress backstage (Saved here first post, second post). Grace's go-to stylist at the time, Sarah Slutsky also posted pictures of the dress.

Very little social media content was posted from the event, and almost no mention of Grace’s performance. An audience member posted this: "A night to remember! The Q&A after Megalopolis was as unhinged as the film itself! Francis Ford Coppola is a man who never stops learning, and his head is full of information and ideas. he wants to share them with everyone! Three quick questions about the film, then a performance by Grace VanderWaal, then a discussion on the history of mankind and his ideas on the human experience, everything from the origins of metallurgy to the state of filmmaking. No moderator, just FFC and his assistant writing on a whiteboard. He didn't even finish his list of talking points because of tangents and questions. He could have talked for hours, but was cut off at about 90 min. If the tour is coming to your town, check it out if this sounds like your thing. (If you are going, hoping to hear him talk about the Godfather, etc., you are out of luck, tho.) Had the energy of a "GLTS at NYCC" for those who understand what that" ( Maryellen DeVivo on Instagram)

Also but not Grace related: an article in Deadline that provides some interesting background (from Coppolas Q&A at the first stop of the tour in New Jersey) about why he did the tour, why he sold his wineries (not just to finance the movie), and what the downturn in the wine-business has meant – and more.

The Capitol Theatre is a historic theatre designed by noted theater architect Thomas W. Lamb (1871–1942) and built in 1926. It seats 1,800, but while the event was well attended, it does not appear to have been sold out.
